The Muthoot M. George Memorial TANKER & Kerala Kidney Research Foundation Young Investigator Award for outstanding research done in the field of Nephrology in India was awarded to Dr. G. Basu from Vellore, for his research into transplantation. The award carried a cash prize of Rs.1,00,000/- a citation and a gold medallion.


The Renny Abraham TANKER Foundation Love for Service Award for a medical doctor who has gone beyond the call of duty in serving the underprivileged was awarded to Dr. Ramani from Sankara Eye Hospitals and Dr. Chico from Bangalore, two exemplary people who set aside their personal lives and reached out selflessly to the underprivileged. The award carried a cash prize of Rs.1,00,000/- a citation and a gold medallion.


The La Renon TANKER Foundation For the Sake of Honour Award was awarded to Dr. Ananth for his in-depth research work into problems of Hypertension that arise in pregnant women. The award carried a cash prize of Rs.1,00,000/- a citation and a gold medallion.


The Krishnan- Ang TANKER Foundation Endowment Lecture was delivered by Dr. Syed Adibul Hasan Rizvi Prof. and Director, Sind Institute of Urology and Transplantation (S.I.U.T Karachi). A Magsaysay Award winner ,Dr.Rizvi delivered the lecture on "Challenges in Establishing Renal Care in a Developing Country". He runs a completely free world renowned centre in Karachi where anyone can walk in and get treatment for kidney disease.
