Mrs. Susane, aged 54 years resides in Chennai. She is a home maker. Her husband is working as a security guard and earns Rs. 8,000/- per month. She has two daughters and a son. In November 2016, she had symptoms of breathing difficulty and after investigation the report indicated that she had renal failure. She was advised Dialysis and approached us for financial assistance for her Fistula Surgery at a private hospital in Chennai which cost Rs. 6,000/-. Mrs. B. Nalini, aged 67 years, resides in Chennai and is a home maker. She has studied upto IX-Std. Her husband Mr. Balan, aged 72 years was a Cashier in a tea shop earning around Rs. 3,500/- per month, but right now he is unemployed. She has three daughters and a son who support her for her dialysis to a certain extent. They live in a rented house.

As a child she suffered from Typhoid, Chicken Pox and Malaria. This could be one of the reasons for her kidney failure, as high strength antibiotic medicines / pain killers were taken for these dreaded diseases. (“Taking over-the-counter painkillers and antibiotics without doctor’s advice could lead to kidney failure”). She was diagnosed with renal failure and was first undergoing dialysis in a private Hospital. As the cost per dialysis in a Private Hospitals ranges from Rs.1000/- to Rs.2500/- plus consumables she was not able to afford her dialysis expenses.

She heard about TANKER’s Subsidized Dialysis Unit through other patients and joined us on 5th April 2002. She cannot register for Cadaver Transplant due to her age. She is thankful to TANKER donors for helping her with her dialysis costs.

Mr. S. Parthasarathy, aged 27 years, resides in Chennai. He is working in a sweet stall and earns Rs. 2,500/- per month. His father is no more and mother is a home maker. His sister is working as a domestic help and earns Rs. 2,500/- per month.

In November 2007, he was affected by renal failure due to hypertension and was on dialysis in a Government hospital. (Note: If related donors are not available for transplantation, the Government will not support patients for their dialysis). He was shifted in to a private hospital.

Mr. Magudeeswaran aged 51 years resides at Tirupur. He is unable to work because of his illness. His wife is a private school teacher and earns Rs. 7,000/- per month. They have two school going daughters. He was diagnosed with renal failure due to hypertension. Initially he took care of his dialysis cost with his wife’s support. The cost per dialysis in private hospitals ranges from Rs. 1,000/- to Rs. 2,500/- plus consumables. He knew TANKER Foundation through our patient and joined our Coimbatore Subsidized Dialysis unit on 23rd December 2013.

He does not have a donor. He cannot register for a Cadaver Transplant as there are no facilities to register for cadaver transplant in Government hospitals in Coimbatore. He cannot register in a private hospital as the transplant costs are between Rs. 5,00,000 to7,00,000. His health has improved greatly after taking regular dialysis in TANKER. Miss. Daphne is 19 years with A+ve blood group. She has completed her 9th standard and could not continue her studies due to her health. Her father is a house painter and earns Rs 2,000/- per month and could not meet their daily needs. Her sister is working in a private concern and earns Rs. 5,000/-. She was treated for Nephrotic Syndrome at the age of 3 1/2 years. Her major symptom was breathlessness. Initially she has been treated in a private hospital.

Initially her father and sister supported her dialysis expenses. The cost per dialysis in private hospitals ranges from Rs. 1,000/- to Rs. 2,500/- plus consumables. Later on, they could not afford the dialysis expenses. She was referred to TANKER Foundation through her doctor and joined our Kilpauk Subsidized Dialysis Unit on 08th September 2011. She has registered herself in Government hospital and waiting for her turn for transplantation. She is thankful to TANKER donors for helping her for her dialysis expenses.

Mr. Venkatesan aged 57 years resides in Chennai. He is an auto driver and earns Rs. 4,000/- per month. His wife is a home maker. He has a married daughter and son. Mr. Venkatesan is a known diabetic for the past ten years. In 2013 he had symptoms of swollen of legs and giddiness. He consulted a doctor in a private hospital and after investigations the report showed that he had chronic renal failure and was advised for dialysis. As he was not able to afford the dialysis expenses, he was referred to TANKER Foundation and joined us on 17th August 2013. His health has improved greatly after taking regular dialysis.

In 2008 she had a problem of stomach pain and was on treatment at Kilpauk Medical College Hospital at Chennai. The doctor advised her to take some tests. After investigation the report showed a high level of creatinine. She was diagnosed as suffering from CKD.

She underwent transplant on 16thFebruary 2012 at the same hospital. Her mother was the donor.
