Our 25th Annual Charity Awards Nite was held on Thursday, 25th January 2018 at Hotel Savera, RK Salai, Chennai. For the past nine years TANKER has used this special night as a platform to recognise and appreciate the efforts of professionals working tirelessly to improve the lives of people, especially the underprivileged with Chronic Kidney Disease.

TANKER presents research and service awards every year during Republic day Eve Nite. TANKER Charity Nite, does recognize and honour doctors for their services to people. On January 25th 2018 the following awards were presented.

Our Chief Guest Mr T. T. Srinivasaraghavan, Managing director of M/s. Sundaram Finance presented the Awards.


K. V. George Kottukulam Memorial TANKER & Kerala Kidney Research Foundation Young Investigator Award 2018 - The award carried a cash prize of 2 lakhs, a citation and a gold medallion

For Prof Vivek Kute,

Vivek Kute is Professor of Nephrology and Transplantation at Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Center and Dr. HL Trivedi Institute of Transplantation Sciences, (IKDRC-ITS) at Gujarat University of Transplantation Sciences (GUTS) Ahmedabad India which is the first University for Transplantation and Allied Sciences in the whole world. IKDRCITS has completed more than 5200 kidney transplantations


The Renny Abraham TANKER Foundation Love for Service Award 2018 - The award carried a cash prize of 1 lakhs, a citation and a gold medallion

For Dr KV Kishore Kumar

Dr KV Kishore Kumar has been a part of The Banyan, Chennai since 2013. Before joining The Banyan, he was working at NIMHANS, Bangalore as a psychiatrist and was at the community mental health unit which was his passion. He had completed his MBBS and DPM from Bangalore. He gave up his comfortable job at NIMHANS to join The Banyan. Currently he is the Director of The Banyan and BALM, Kovalam. He is truly energetic, his eyes twinkling, a kind demeanour and driven to work among the homeless who are mentally ill with severe mental health conditions especially women.

For Prof. Pius Z. Yanda, Vice Chair, IPCC Working Group II

Pius Zebhe Yanda is a Professor in Physical Geography . In 2016 Professor Yanda was elected for the position of IPCC Vice Chair Working Group II. Professor Yanda has a track record in leading multi-disciplinary international terms research projects and programs. He has published extensively in the referred journals in the field of natural resources and climate change.

For Dr. Rajapurkar Mohan Manohar

Dr. Rajapurkar Mohan Manohar, Director, Postgraduate Studies & Research Department of Nephrology, Gujarat.

Member of The Board of the Management of Pramukhswami Medical College. The Charutar Arogya Mandal Medical Research Society. Member of the Expert Committee for Dialysis and Curriculum Development to finalize Course Curriculum, Programme Study Centres and Course Co-ordinators under the Chairmanship of DGHS, Govt. of India

Dr. Bhupendra Gandhi

Dr. B.V Gandhi is Director of the Nephrology Department at Jaslok Hospital & Research center. The key specialties of Dr. B.V Gandhi are Dialysis and Renal Failure. Today, he is considered as one of the Top Transplant Physician in Mumbai. He is one of the best Nephrologists in Mumbai and all over the country. He brings with him over 30 years of experience both in India and abroad.

Mrs. Jayshree Raveendran

Mrs. Jayshree Raveendran is a Founder, Managing Trustee and Honorary Executive Director of ABILITY FOUNDATION. She has initiated all the activities of the Foundation, with no role models to go by, working towards a felt need, purely on an honorary basis – towards a cause she firmly believes in and is totally immersed in the implementation of various projects to pave the way for equitable opportunities and a level field for all persons with disabilities in every sphere of life. Over and above the activities of ABILITY FOUNDATION, Jayshree Raveendran is also involved in National policy on issues pertaining to disability.
